— About
Kansas City is my kind of place—gritty, soulful, and packed with creatives.
First Fridays turn alleys into art hubs, and murals stretch across brick walls while visionaries continue to build something out of nothing with a DIY spirit that refuses to fade.
Smoked meats are basically a religion, and food is a love language—late-night burgers, street-side tacos, and flavors that hit like a hurricane. KC knows exactly what it is—raw, real, and full of heart. Right in the middle of everything—exactly where I want to be.
Kansas City isn’t just where I’m from—it’s embedded in how I see. It’s not a canvas but a living file, an ever-evolving imprint of light, and noise that demands to be captured from a specific eye. This city is shaped by countless artists and creators who add to its growing collection—layering stories onto forgotten walls, turning alleys into galleries, and leaving their mark in ways both seen and unseen. I often document this energy, pushing images beyond their limits, letting imperfections speak louder than precision. Blown highlights, digital noise, warped perspectives—these aren’t flaws; they are part of the story, a glitch in the system that reveals something truer than clarity ever could.
The concept of a flâneur resonates deeply with me—the art of wandering, absorbing the city’s rhythm, and capturing the fleeting details that often go unnoticed. This mindset shapes my approach to design and imagery, allowing me to adapt to my surroundings while elevating their uniqueness. I've been fortunate to live and travel across many places, from the shoals of Alabama to the fog-draped streets of San Francisco, the rain-soaked bridges of Portland to the towering steel and glass of Chicago. Each city has sharpened my perception, training my eye to see beyond the surface. This experience allows me to bend and warp my work, creating a visual dialogue that contrasts the expected with the abstract, challenging perception and reshaping reality through distortions.
With years of experience, a BFA in Photography from KCAI, and an MFA in Visual Communications from Willamette University, I bring a sharp eye and a restless ingenuity to everything I create. My work isn’t just about finding solutions—it’s about crafting something that fits the pulse of each environment, adapting with precision and intention. Blending technical skill with conceptual depth, I push beyond the expected, shaping visuals and strategies that don’t just function—they resonate, and leave a mark.
